A new conception of this instrument’s place in the world of musical art in general, and of string performance in particular, is making its way among musicians and audiences alike. This edition is aimed to be helpful to students, by introducing them to more valuable and enticing literature, amateurs, by bringing them to solo pieces they may have not known, and to professionals, by giving them some unpublished shorter works, either suitable for encores or as part of a performance.
