The new Marantz CD5005 incorporates everything its predecessor, the CD5004, offered including the Marantz-own HDAM-SA2, but this year it features an upgraded DAC CS4398 and new CD mechanism – both taken from its big brother, the CD6005. As you’d expect, it plays CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs as well as MP3 and WMA files.

Sit back and enjoy your favorite CDs with the Marantz CD5005 CD Player. It has a front-loading tray that will accept your CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs. It even supports MP3 and WMA CD media. To enjoy your music privately, the CD player has a headphone output with volume control. The CD5005 has a two-line fluorescent display and includes an ergonomic remote control.
Instead of employing conventional IC-based op amp chips in the final audio output stage, the CD5005 features Marantz's HDAM-SA2 discrete component modules, which are designed to provide wide bandwidth, fast slew rate, low noise, and low distortion.
Reference Class D/A Conversion
The CD5005 features high resolution D/A conversion and is equipped with the reference class CS4398 D/A converter, which provides up to 192 kHz/24-bit resolution for optimum fidelity with high-resolution audio file types. To prevent interference with the analog audio output circuitry, the digital audio circuit block is housed in its own shielded subsection.
Discrete Headphone Amplifier
The all-discrete headphone amplifier is compatible with a wide range of headphone types, including low impedance models, and features a front panel adjustable volume control.
Optical and Digital Coaxial Audio Outputs
For increased compatibility with digital audio amplifiers and decoders, the CD5005 is equipped with both optical and digital coaxial audio outputs.
Gold-Plated Audio Connectors
The audio connectors, along with the digital coaxial output connector, are all gold plated to ensure optimum signal transfer with no degradation.
System Remote Control
The supplied remote control features an ergonomic design, and can control the CD player as well as your connected iPod or iPhone.
Remote Control Input and Output
Connect the CD5005 to a Marantz amplifier via the remote control output port and from the amp to a Marantz network audio player for easy remote control operation. This lets you place the CD5005 on a shelf for easy accessibility, while the amplifier and network audio player can be tucked away in a cabinet, to reduce visual system clutter.
Two Line Fluorescent Display
The easy-to-read fluorescent display features clear alpha-numeric characters as well as a range of punctuation characters for instant readout of track titles, artist/album names, and other information. The CD5005 is also compatible with music discs that feature CD Text.
