High-Resolution Audio can have a greater rate of 24bit/96kHz (compared to CD standard rate of 16bit/44.1kHz), capturing more of the details and subtleties in your music. The result is tracks exactly as they were recorded, with no compromise on sound.

Digital Music Enhancer combines three unique Sony audio technologies to give compressed content a richer sound. DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) restores the subtle high frequency details that get lost in heavily-compressed digital files such as MP3s. Dynamic Recovery Range restores the contrast between soft and loud sounds – adding impact to dialogue, movies, and music. And Advanced Auto Volume automatically corrects the volume when changing between content formats.

Inside the Blu-ray Disc™ player, a chip converts standard video sources, such as 480p, 720p, and 1080p, into a signal that’s nearer to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160).
