WIRELESS HI-FI SOUND

Part of the DALI EQUI ecosystem

The active wireless OBERON 7 C is intended for larger homes where music has space to breathe and can be enjoyed at higher volume levels. A great match for ambitious music lovers and audiophiles that want to make a statement with their audio system, the OBERON 7 C delivers the incredible sound of a traditional floorstander with the flexibility and convenience of an active wireless Hi-Fi speaker. Part of the DALI EQUI ecosystem of innovative wireless speakers and amplifiers, the OBERON 7 C pairs with the DALI SOUND HUB or SOUND HUB COMPACT for a powerful stereo setup or as part of a multichannel surround sound installation.

REDUCING DISTORTION

SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound)

The slender, floorstanding OBERON 7 C has two 7" low loss bass/mid drivers featuring DALI's patented SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) technology. By introducing electrically non-conductive elements to the magnet structure, SMC significantly reduces the effect of a variety of distortion-producing mechanisms inherent to moving-coil driver architecture. For example, SMC minimises eddy current effects, increases flux linearity, reduces magnetic hysteresis and minimises the variation of voice-coil inductance resulting from its movement in the magnet gap. SMC-equipped drivers are particularly well suited to speakers with active amplification, like the OBERON 7 C.

CLASS D AMPLIFICATION

Reproducing the smallest details with clarity and accuracy

The OBERON 7 C power amplification comprises two 50 watt-peak, closed-loop, Class D power amplifiers chosen specifically for their sound quality and dynamic ability. One amplifier powers the high-frequency driver, while the other powers the bass/mid drivers. The 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio of the power amplifiers ensures that even the smallest detail in a quiet musical passage is reproduced with clarity and accuracy. The OBERON 7 C is unusually frugal in terms of power consumption yet holds nothing back in terms of dynamic punch when the music demands it.

LIGHTWEIGHT SOFT DOME

Increased sensitivity and power handling with reduced distortion

The OBERON 7 C high-frequency driver is a damped textile, soft dome tweeter featuring an oversized, unusually light 29 mm diaphragm and voice-coil. They work together to increase sensitivity and power handling, and to reduce distortion. They also enable the driver to operate at lower frequencies than typical smaller tweeters for more latitude in the crossover design.

OPTIMISED CABINET

Constructed from CNC-machined high strength MDF panels

The OBERON 7 C cabinet is constructed from CNC-machined, high strength MDF panels finished in a variety of wood-effect or matt white laminates. The cabinet is fitted with an unusually large-diameter, dual-flare reflex port at the rear, engineered to minimise port turbulence, distortion and compression. The OBERON 7 C cabinet also features an integral die-cast plinth fitted with attachment points for floor spikes or compatible feet.

OBERON C series speakers are additionally compatible with the DALI SOUND HUB wireless audio preamplifier originally introduced with CALLISTO C series. In addition to providing Bluetooth and a variety of wired audio inputs, the SOUND HUB is equipped with facilities for future expansion and upgrade. For example, with its optional NPM-1 BluOS module installed, the SOUND HUB can provide MQA certified high resolution music streaming and multiroom functionality, as well as supporting Spotify Connect.

BluOS Module

The first expansion module integrates Bluesound’s incredible BluOS hi-res multi-room platform. BluOS is devised by audiophiles for audiophiles to deliver the best digital sound quality imaginable throughout your house. And because BlueSound is compatible with speakers from a variety of audiophile manufacturers, it delivers flexibility, convenience and choice as well as unparalleled quality.

Wireless Audio Transfer

The wireless connection between the Sound Hub and the speakers is an extremely stable digital connection, made on either the 2.4 GHz or the 5.8 GHz band depending on location and quality of the connection. The proprietary 30 bit protocol transfers an uncompressed I2S audio signal in 24 bit 96 kHz, utilising the remaining bits to control volume, speaker ID and other control data

Optical Inputs

The Sound Hub features two optical inputs that are controlled differently - with a clear focus on TV and audio use. The TV input is activated by the carrier signal. This enables the Sound Hub to power up the OBERON C speaker system the second the TV is turned on. The audio input is activated by an audio signal, and by analysing the audio signal, the Sound Hub can determine if audio is played back.

MQA Certified

When streamed by BluOS through the Sound Hub's wireless no-loss fully digital audio transfer, every little detail in the MQA file will find its way to the ear of the listener. BluOS was an early adopter of the MQA technology and the DALI OBERON C system now joins the nearly 30 other BluOS Enabled products by NAD Electronics and Bluesound as MQA Certified.

Quick Setup

Setting up a Hi-Fi system couldn't be easier. You literally only have to connect the power chord to the Oberon C speakers and the Sound Hub followed by pushing the CONNECT button. Voilà and you are ready to stream from your phone or music server.

Multiple Sources

The Sound Hub supports a list of different sources: Bluetooth (AAC & Apt-X HD), Analogue (RCA & Mini Jack), Coaxial RCA, 2 x Optical (Audio & TV), USB output (Google Chromecast Audio) and 2 x modular expansion ports (e.g. BluOS).
